Millard's Career Academies are a two year commitment during the junior and senior years. Students attend their home high school half of the day and attend classes at the academies the other half of the day. Students may apply for the academies in November of their sophomore year. In the Business & Logistics Management Academy students explore managing the movement of people and product around the globe. Students complete a foundation program as a gateway to the fastest-growing business major. Students will also complete an internship to gain logistics experience.
In the Business & Entrepreneurship Academy students will explore how to own your own business and be your own boss. They will learn how to be a profitable, innovative risk taker. Students will complete an internship with successful businesses and build a professional network.
In the Education Academy students will explore careers in the education field which lead to teaching and corporate training. They will create and deliver lessons to students in an educational setting. They will also complete the entrance requirements for the University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Education.
In the Health Sciences Academy students will explore the field of health care and diverse opportunities for employment. They will earn a Certified Nursing Assistant and Emergency Medical Responder credentials. Students will also complete a clinical internship and build a professional network.
In the STEM Academy students will engage in a broad foundation of Design, Math, Engineering, Science, and Information Technology courses to prepare for a variety of career and postsecondary opportunities. The courses for the STEM Academy are focused around engaging students as creative and critical thinkers. Students will also complete a STEM Capstone course and an internship to gain experience and create a professional network.
